TAIEX Workshop in Yerevan

On 23-24 January 2012 in Yerevan, Workshop on “Energy labelling and ecodesign of household appliances and energy uses products” was organized by the initiative of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Armenia within the framework of EU TAIEX programme.The aim of the workshop was to present the complete set of activities and rules needed for a functional system related to household electrical products and appliance energy labelling and ecodesign.

Representatives of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Armenia and other relevant international organizations, non-Governmental Organizations and agencies participated in that event. A large scale of issues was discussed in a short period. The EU experts from UK, Finland and Lithuania presented the EU legislative requirements and mechanisms of legal regulation in that area, shared their experience with Armenian side, presented implemented activities in their countries. Representatives of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Armenia presented the measures implemented in Armenia in the sphere of energy saving and energy efficiency, legislative changes, further actions and expectations.

Feedback received from the experts of both sides the two-day event as very effective, the ddiscussions - quite rich. Unfortunately, there was no participation from the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, though control of labelling in consumer market is under their responsibilities.

Considering the importance of legal framework and surveillance mechanisms regulation to be done in Armenia in the sphere energy efficiency and energy saving we look forward to develop our cooperation with EU by using TAIEX and in future also Twinning tools. Details :
