Armenia started to export more electricity

Electricity export from Armenia increased by 9.9% in the first eight months of the year. Overall, about 955 million kW hours of electricity were shipped, compared to 868 million kilowatt last year.

The main part of exports fell to the Iranian market. Supplies also have been restored to Georgia. Over 116 million kWh of electricity was supplied to the Georgian market this year against zero-year deliveries last year.

This became possible in February due to the signing of a contract on electricity transmission between Armenia and Georgia, signed between "Energoimpex" CJSC and "Global International Energy" Corporation, which allowed to optimize the electric power generation and consumption regimes in Armenia.

In the eight months of this year, 805 million kilowatt hours of electricity were supplied to the Iranian market. It is expected that in the near future the rates of electricity will be activated. It is envisaged to increase the export growth by at least 20% by the end of the year.

It should be noted that in the same period, 4.1 billion kilowatt hours of electricity was consumed in the domestic market, which exceeded the indicator of the previous year by 276 million kilowatt hours or 7.2 percent.
