For the construction of wind power stations the wind resource measurements have begun

"Axis Infra Sentral Aequa Limited", a company interested in the construction of large wind power stations in Armenia, has set up a tower in Gegharkunik province to measure the wind resource, as it has not been in Armenia yet. The height of the tower reaches 80 meters. It will launch in the next few days. It is planned to install another tower in April.

According to Deputy Minister of Energy infrastructures and Natural Resources of Armenia Hayk Harutyunyan, in March of last year, the RA Government made a decision to support "Axis Infra Sentral Aequa Limited" to build wind power stations up to 150 MW.

- If the expectations are justified, then in the next two or three years we can have a wind farm that has no analogues in the world. It will be a mountainous and tallest station, where it is planned to apply many innovative solutions,- said Hayk Harutyunyan.

Spanish "Axiona Energy Global Comp. E-company" is also interested in the construction of a wind power plant in Armenia. Last March, the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Energy infrastructures and Natural Resources to build wind power plants with a capacity of 100-150 MW.

- The company has begun implementing the wind potential assessment. Two monitors with a height of 80 meters and one Sodar system have been installed. Each station had with 8 weather-resistance, 3 windscreens, 2 thermo-humidity and 1 atmospheric pressure,- informed Hayk Harutyunyan.
