The Issues of Reliable and Uninterrupted Transition of Energy Carriers were been Discussed in Ashgabad

On December 8-9, the international conference related to the reliable and uninterrupted transition of energy carriers was held in the capital of Turkmenistan Ashgabad.

The conference was also attended by the RA Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Yervand Zakharyan.

During the Conference, initiated by the Ministry Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Energy Charter, were been discussed the issues of the region's energy security, of energy carriers transition, as well as, the issues of regional cooperation in the energy sector.

The Conference named by ’’Reliable and Uninterrupted Transition of Energy Carriers’’ provided an opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities of bilateral cooperation with the separate countries in the energy sector.

The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Yervand Zakharyan also delivered a speech during the conference.

Greeting the participants, the Minister said that the current pace of the development of global economy have a negative impact on the environment, which makes a lot of countries, including Armenia, to undertake appropriate steps to increase the share of renewable and ecologically clean energy in the total energy production, as well as to promote introduction of energy efficient technologies in all areas of the economy.

According to Yervand Zakharyan, despite Armenia is almost entirely dependent on the circumstance of the import of initial sources of energy, however, the energy sector in Amenia is profitable and completely covers the domestic demand.

Besides, Armenia is cooperating successfully with Russia, Iran and Georgia on the mutually beneficial basis.

The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources also noted that, the RA Government pays quite a great attention to the energy independence and security level enhancing in the sustainable development processes.

According to him, Armenia's energy development strategy is based on nuclear, as well as on renewable energy development, on use of energy-efficient technologies, diversification of transportation ways of the primary energy resources, the integration of regional energy markets.

"The most important goal of conference is to create a foundation for a sustainable cooperation for the upcoming years in the energy supply sphere, said Yervand Zakharyan. -I'm sure it's completely realistic goal, if to join our efforts."

The RA Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Yervand Zakharyan met with the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
