The Next in Turn Session of the Armenian-Turkmen Intergovernmental Commission Took Place

On November 10-11, the next in turn 7th session of the Armenian-Turkmen Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation  hosted in Ashgabat, by the chairmanship of the RA Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Ye. Zakharyan and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Sapardurdy Toyliev.

The participants discussed numerous issues regarding the opportunities for cooperation in energy, science and education, culture, health, tourism and sports, agriculture, aviation, trade and economic relations. There was made a reference to the process of implementation of projects planned during the previous session.

The representatives of two countries' relevant Ministries presented the results of the works done.

In his speech, the RA Minister of Energy and Natural Resources pointed to the fact, that there is a great potential among the economies of Armenia and Turkmenistan, and for the realization of that, offered to organize the economic conferences with participation of industrialists and businessmen of two countries.

Ye. Zakharyan highlighted the appropriateness of the opening of Ashgabat-Yerevan direct flights, which is, in the Minister's opinion, could become serious stimulus not only for the development of economic relations, but also for the expansion of tourism.

The number of cooperation projects proposed by the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, particularly in the areas of biotechnology and microbiology, also create a favorable basis for the Armenian-Turkmen cooperation.

It is expected to intensify cooperation in agricultural crop cultivation, breeding and seed production activities.

At the end of the Session there was been signed the Protocol of the seventh Session of the Intergovernmental Commission of the Economic Cooperation between Armenia and Turkmenistan.
